What is an EMI licence?
An electronic money institution (EMI) issues electronic money and may provide payment services. Its framework is Directive 2009/110/EC (EMD2), which applies the payment-services rules — today Directive (EU) 2015/2366 (PSD2) — to it. The authorisation is granted by the competent authority of one EU / EEA member state, and is passported to the other member states by notification. Initial capital in our catalogue: €350,000 initial capital.
